The Cupboard of Useless Things

So last week, the fam decided to set up the Christmas tree (and keeping with tradition, take it down sometime in July). While taking out the Christmas tree, we came across this bag of unwanted, ugly yet festive decorations.

There was all kinds of weird stuff in here, like Catholic statues of Mary, glittery bows with annoying bells attached and a spikey fake grass wreath which leaved holes in your hand when picked up.

This 'tree' was also found. It also had a glittering 'MERRY CHRISTMAS!' on top which was quite disturbing.

I dunno, this may be some people's taste, but I personally thinks it looks like someone had a love affair with a bottle of silver spray paint. Bleh...

I also found this wierd twirly tinsel which I decorated the fruit bowl with.

Finding the bag set off a whole cleaning spree of what I now call, 'The Cupboard of Useless Things'. I think every household has one of these, where all the "Uhh...thanks..." gifts, "Wow...this is a waste of space" nic nacs and mouldy mothballs seem to congregate.

This is Mother hard at work while Bec attacks her shoulder with a not-so-cuddley beaky stuffed toy we found.

No idea what this is for. Maybe for giants?

Hmm...cause we all need one of these -

And these pair of glasses gave Bec about 10 whole seconds of amusement.

And thoughout this whole cleaning process, I was about as useful as the furry lump I'm patting.

Merry Christmas!
